The first race of Round Laguna Seca ended with a double top ten result for Aprilia riders, Lorenzo Savadori and Alex De Angelis, who crossed the finish line in sixth and ninth place respectively. Lorenzo Salvadori, who started from the third row in eighth position got after the SP2 (in 1.23.096), started well to stay in the second leading group chasing the podium in the final laps. The reigning Stock1000 champion who had never done a race before in the Laguna Seca circuit, managed to keep up to fit in the closing stages of the race in the fight for third place, with Alex Lowes, Michael Van Der Mark and Nicky Hayden.

After a confrontation that has kept him busy until the end and after a duel with Van Der Mark, Salvadori was able to pass under the checkered flag in sixth position about a second and a half from the third step of the podium for Hayden. Also Alex De Angelis played one of the best races of the season so far. The San Marino rider who started from the fifth row of the grid with the thirteenth time (in 1.23.661) obtained in SP1, has long struggled with Niccolò Canepa and then with Jordi Torres when he got Xavi Fores in the viewfinder. De Angelis held his race pace at 1’24″, similar to the pace clocked by the chasing group. At the end of laps available, De Angelis crossed the finish line in ninth place in Race 1 completing the positive performance of Iodaracing riders in the first race at the Californian circuit of Laguna Seca.
