[APRILIA]SBK Rd.10 Superbike at Lausitzring: Aprilia plays a key role in Race2
Alex De Angelis conquered the first podium of his career and the first podium with Iodaracing Project in World Superbike, conquering second place in Race2 at Lausitzring. De Angelis had not been on the podium of a world competition since the third place achieved while racing in Moto2 class in 2012.
Characterized by very difficult weather conditions, the starting procedures were repeated twice because of the rain and the lack of visibility.
Despite the difficulties, Alex De Angelis showed all his experience to do the best in the race, starting eighteenth on the starting grid. Thanks to a perfect start and a skillful driving of his Aprilia RSV4RF, De Angelis earned 13 positions on the first lap, dropped to the fifth position, chasing the first group of riders.
After only two laps, the rider from San Marino was already behind his team mate, Lorenzo Savadori that had managed a good start and settled into third place behind Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes, but crashed shortly after.
Unfortunately, Lorenzo Savadori, due to the wet conditions of the track, crashed, while he was in second place. Luckly for him no physical injuries, only great disappointment for not ending even a race of the German Round.
However, De Angelis worked on his pace to keep behind the main pursuer: Xavi Fores. Both riders battled until the end of the race, with De Angelis that was able to maintain the gap from on his Spanish collegue.
